smoothing door cards, need to know

   hi im wanting to smooth off part of my 2 front door cards then spray them, but i wana find out wots the best, easiest, an cheepest ways of dion it? oh an if ne 1 has done it b4. plz help

   sand it, coat it in resin. (the stuff you would use for fibreglass) sand it again, skim it with filler then high build primer.
