vtr to gti6 gearbox with ratio tuned

   would you get a better power gain if you were to get an gti6 gearbox stripped and have the ratios set for xsi 1st and 2nd then poss vtr at 3rd and 4th and gti at 5th would this work or would it be a disaster lol any help appreciated

   gti-6 is a BE box (don't know why you mention this), vtr is an MA box - different bell housing bolt holes + mounts, linkages etc.
   
   You could put whatever linkages you wanted in it - you'll find the ratio's for the sports boxes (vtr/vts/xsi/s1/s2 to be the same) but with a different Final Drive

   Try fitting MA parts to a BE box + then try fitting the 6 speed and not modifying the chassis leg, + then new shafts and hubs etc..

   lol okies it was a suggestion made to me by a freind of mine just thought id get info on it lol im trying to find a way of getting the most out of all my gears and i dont really have any clue what do you guys reccomend?

   what box and engine do you have, what do you want from the car, future plans etc?

   lol ive got a standard mk1 vtr box atm iv running on a newman ph1 cam kit,de-cat and few other bits that were done before i had the car but cant make sense of the receipts lol apparently its been dyno tested to 126 bhp looking to poss lighten flywheel, gearbox/linkages, ecu remap ad other than that for the min thats all ive come up with as boring as that sounds lol what do you reccomend or does that ound an ok start?

   i would say 126bhp would be extremly high!
   
   sounds like a good plan though, maybe sell the ph1 cams and get some ph3's before a remap

    lol i couldnt agree with you more lol where is the best place to pick up ph3 cams from? and do you know where the best place to look for an xsi gearbox from? what cc would it be out of? thanks for the help (Y)

    1.4 xsi box, kamracing is the place for cams, forsale section on here, rallye register, 106 owners for the gearbox

    1.4 xsi box rule
    
    i have one on my vtr and i have to say its one of the best changes ive done yet, its alot quicker
    
    but this comes with a consiquence you will sacrafic a nice motorway journey, cause when doing 70mph with the vtr box on you are at about 3k right, which isnt too bad from what i remember but with the xsi box you will be doing 4000rpm at 70mph
    
    id say if you plan to use the car as a daily still and want half decent motorway trips etc go for the s2 rallye/1.6xsi box as they have slightly higher final drive or is it lowerr? either way it wil be still a great improvemtn but you will still be able to do decent lenghted journeys at a half decent speed i.e 70mph on motorway
