#6go for something with a smaller cc like a 1.1, and make sure you look into the insurance before doing anything stupid/illegal
welcome
-
#7Also, get some lexus rear lights mate. If you wire them up properly can see about +15bhp
-
#9Not sure if a Saxo was built to handle that much power though...
Also off topic, just looked through your progress thread and although I said some harsh things about your car before I must say it will look awesome if you get those blue tinted rear lights to match the wheels. Fair play for being different
-
#10Dont think he needs the cocky comments people. I had a VTr at 17 and paid £2900 on insurance. I really wouldnt advise you do it mate! Its not worth it, get something smaller and wait for a VTR!
-
#11No in all fairness i had my 1st vtr at 17 and insurance was mental - you are honestly better off getting a 1.1 or a furio and building up the NCB
-
#12It's kind of obvious from his original post what kind of person he is. It's obvious he wants a VTR cus he thinks it will be fast and show off to his mates.Quote:Dont think he needs the cocky comments people. I had a VTr at 17 and paid £2900 on insurance. #14dam i realli want a vtr soo much n the only other car i would realli want is summit like a ek4 civic but then its still gna cost alot on the insurence i realli dont no what to do then but most likely end up with a vtr i fell in love wiv em lol
-
#15The thing is I also wanted a VTR and would've been happy to pay something like £3,000 for insurance but my parents made me see sense and I ended up in a 1.1.Quote:True.
Thats what i was like though... then i crashed! Seriously dont get a VTR for your first car
Yeah it's not fantastic to look at and not fantastic to drive but it's a good little car and should have my 1 year NCB at the beginning of October. At the end of the day it's a first car and it's serving me well (touch wood).
What makes you want a VTR so badly? It's still a lump of French shit regardless of the engine sizeQuote:dam i realli want a vtr soo much n the only other car i would realli want is summit like a ek4 civic but then its still gna cost alot on the insurence i realli dont no what to do then but most likely end up with a vtr i fell in love wiv em lol
I think you are dreaming a bit made and should aim for something more reasonable. Even if you have the money to insure it you will regret it as it's not worth paying thousands to insure a Saxo, VTR or not. -
#16What about a furio? or a Quiksilver?
-
#17and your cars still alive aswellQuote:The thing is I also wanted a VTR and would've been happy to pay something like £3,000 for insurance but my parents made me see sense and I ended up in a 1.1.

#18depends on your area to how much insurance will be-but just get a 1.4 itll be cheaper mate.
Subs + Amps £40+
Wiring kit £30
Mods £5 - £500
Depends what you want -
#19lol i dunno y i set ma heart on a vtr but i realli want one now n i wouldnt no realli what 2 get tbh but cant wait 2 start drivin i spose i could get a furio n all ma m8s keep tellin me vtr's are nice but french wank lol
-
#20If you really want a saxo id reccomend the furio, its not woth paying all that money for a VTR at 17, ive been there and done it and i regret it!
-
#21i no its not worth but i dunno u can pick up a decent vtr 4 about a grand now its just the insurence that kills every1 lol
-
#22Your English is shit.
-
#24lol its because im typing too fast LOL
-
#25also i bet pretty much every vtr owner has loved there car i bet ur glad uv got a vtr (y)
-
#26I went from a 1.1 desire to a vtr when i turned 18. Insurance was cheaper on the vtr than the 1.1 due to age and experience. I'm glad i made the step up, it was easier to step up to my current car as it wasn't going 1.1 to 2.0.
Wouldn't say it's the amazing car everyone makes it out to be though. They aren't that great. -
#27HAD a vtr. But yeah, i suppose i am glad. I loved it! But i didnt love all the money it cost me mate.Quote:also i bet pretty much every vtr owner has loved there car i bet ur glad uv got a vtr (y)
At the end of the day its your decision and no matter what anyone says to you i bet you get the VTR lol. -
#28lol wnt 1 so bad also iv heard that the pedels arent inline with seat lol n i know if i get a 1.1 saxo or a 1.4 i doubt ill want a vtr n i'll want summit else

Welcom Fella... The Insurance On a VTR will Kill you, Get a few quotes to work out the figures, then remember you have to be able to tax it... and put petrol in it...
So 1k for the Car...
Lets Say you get Cheap Insureance... 3k for That
Then You But 30quid petrol in a week, Which you will, showing off that you have a vtr...
So in your First MONTH driving... your looking at.... roughly.. and this is if the car comes fine, no new tyres, no engine problems, no blubs gone, nothing if everything works.....
your looking at give or take... £4120... just for a 1.6?
If i was you, get a peice of turd of a car, maybe a 1l saxo... or a 1.1... or even a nissan micra (iJoke) save the rest of your money, then when your 18...
VTS

#32Furio is good mate you can always put a vtr lump in later on too as its easier than peeling a banana lol. Are you wanting the track slag look or the show car look or the subtle look or the euro look or the blah blah blah you need to be more specific.
Btw the oe look is the cheapest lol. -
#33And btw a 1.4 is fast enough when you first drive i had more that enough close shaves in mine lol.
-
#34^+1
1.4 furios and westcoasts are fast enough for a first car i wanted a vtr but the cost of running it and insurance prices now mate you wont have enough money to mod it listen to people on here with experience i am going uni in october and now am wishing i had got a 1.1/1.0 and put the vt kit on it for my first car because the cost of running them is alot more than i thought
