Important! : sigcon question

  1. #1
    fitted my wide band today and its reminded me of a problem I had with my sig con.

    Basically the full throttle signal to the ecu could not get a high enough voltage to match it to the original, its down by around half a volt.

    I have a feeling this is causing the ecu to still think its not at full throttle and is trying to correct the fueling. Does any one have any ideas what I could do.

    Also does any one what voltage the tps puts out at full throttle as my readings have been lost.

    allright bud just wondering have you got instructions to the sigcon still i dident get any as got mine second hand think i got it wired ok but dont know how to set it up it was set when i got it but was off outher car it runs ok but surges and idles bad and when you take your foot off it revs up any feedback greatfully receved sorry about the change of subject

    In which case - how do you know that the signal isn't going high enough;

    And if you can measure the voltage going from the SigCon to the ECU - then you've got the necessary equipment (a multimeter) in order to obtain what signal the tps gives out at full throttle.

    Remember that full throttle is your foot to the floor on the accelerator - not opening the throttle body by hand. Which may be why you're seeing different values.

    took the measurements when fitting and the voltage was to low, I then took the sigcon of as i had a problem thinking it was that.

    had the measurements in the car and the car had a leak and the paper got soaked, hence need the typical readings so I know what to aim for.

    There is no typical setting - if my throttle cable is slightly shorter than yours, its going to be different. And my ECU will have learnt what my max/min TPS signal is, as will have yours - hence why you need to find the signal for yours.

    surely tho when built they dont adjust each ecu to match?

    The ECU is adaptive. If you clear it then try and drive your car it will run like a sack of sh1t. It takes a bit of driving. But there is a limit to what it can do. What voltage are you getting as is? You do know a SigCon can not close the loop only the SigCon2 and SigCon3 can do this.

    think its sigcon 3 I have (water control on board)

    gixxa got the same problem its only 0.03v on mine but you should be looking for about 4.50 volts on full throttel mines 4.53 but sigcon will only go up to 4.50 any more and ecu will regester a fault and the light will go on

    have you found any way of getting round this

    yea just done it on mine i disconnect the battery and then turn ign on and wait 5 min then turn off reconnect battery and drive for a min or too useing all rev ranges and gears so the ecu can lern the new voltages and then mine was spot on could be coinsedance but try that the setting instructions i got off gd16 said its ok to be accuret to within one decimal point ie 4.5 but better at 2 decimal ie 4.50 so try that mate see how you get on
