Toyo Vs. Yoko's

Seems these are cheaper then i thought.

What are the better one for handling?
    How quick they wear out?
What they like in the wet?

    Thanks.

ive had toyo proxes which were good then i had yoko a539s which were even better, ive now got yoko s drives which seem to be good. so personally i would go for yokos

assuming you mean the parada's vs t1rs or similar... theyre road tyres, so will perform to the same standard as road tyres

never in the same league as the r888's or a048's

as a road tyre you want something durable, reliable, stable, good tread for wet weather and good value for money. theyll never be "grippy" as such in comparison to actual track rubber

if you drive normally, then you wont tell the differance between most road tyres.. toyo t1r's / eagleF1's would be two of the best road tyres avaliable for cheapish money

YOKO all the way. More so on there motosport side of things but even there road tyres are all good for there given class. Still tend to go for Avons though.

Depends what model's we're talking about?

Yoko S Drive, I don't like, found they didn't have much grip, although they did break away quite progressively, so you got warning.

Toyo Proxes T1R, I do like 10 fold over the S Drives, much more grip and still maintaining the progressive breakaway.

    Same views as you mate.

    Paradas spec 2's

Good in the dry, sidewalls very soft though which makes them wear dodgy. Awfull in the wet.

    S drives

Shit, poor grip, fairly durable, more of a motorway tyre if you ask me

    A048s

Very good in all conditions imo

    Toyo T1rs

Very good tyre, good dry weather grip, wet weather grip is fairly good too and quite dialed to when they start to let go. Wear isnt the best, not amazing but still not a very quick wearing tyre

    Goodyear eagle F1's

My current tyre, and best road tyre ive used, dry weather astonishing, wet weather even better. Wear is very gradual, take a while to get up to heat imo but when they do they wear quite uick, but i doubt they would get to this stage on the roads. Downside is the price compared to the others.

    R888s

Only used these SG compounds in the dry on an Elise was very very good once up to heat. Not used them in the wet but aparently theyre as good as the eagle F1s but once u hit standing water your a dead man.

Used to be a tyre fitter and used alsorts of tyres for a few days at a time.

Toyo every day of the week!!!

Had both the Proxes T1-s and then the T1-r and cant fault either of them, wear isnt anywhere near as bad as people make out

Also tried the yoko a539s, they were as good as the toyo's in the dry but they were the worst tyres ive experienced in the wet, so shit that after only a few hundred miles i got rid of them and bought some new Toyo's again

t-1rs are on mine and kick ass

No experiance of yoko parada's but heard theyre ok for road poo for track.

t1r's have soft sidewalls and will get nailed on track use, but if you want them for good road tyres then they get my seal of approval, there what ill be strecthing on my borbets in the next coule of weeks.

Goodyear eagle f1 gsd3's are what ive ran for the last 5 sets of tyres on my coupe awsome in the dry, even awsomer in the wet (i nailed a m3 evo around combe in typhon wet conditions ) but theyre noisier than the toyos and any other tyre ive run on the road tbh.

If the toyos turn out to be poo then ill be putting the GY back on my borbet's. The main reason for dropping my GY's is that ill be using a second set of wheels with either 888's or yoko/kumho's alternatives. For track wet wheels id probly stick with GY's but havent even looked into this yet.

T1R's wear out silly fast! I killed a set up front in under 5K on the road

Got some Goodyear eagle F1's at the front at the moment, they cost more than the T1R's but then they are a better tyre! How long they will last I don't know but they are great tyres performance wise!

my t1r's are currently on about 10k miles.

still loads of tread, and good condition.

    Agreed.

Used T1-s and T1-r toyos. Can't fault them, great in the wet, even better in the dry. Anyone who wears them down in under 5k miles on the roads should go back to driving school. Mine have done over 5k, back two are like new and front two aren't even half way.

YokoA539's great in the dry, dangerous in the wet.

i had 3500 miles outta a set on my st. i wont use anything else other than the toyos. swear by them. obv i dont usually go through them at such a rate though lol

Well after all this, i bought some Kuhmo KU31's

Got them fitted, balanced and new valves.

Went for a casual drive to wear off all the protective greece thats over them then went for a bit of a drive down a country lane.

Must say, £78 delivered for 2 of these tyres = Minta!

They are sooo grippy, its un real. Although it was night and couldn't see jack so wanting going fast fast they were better then i thought.

i didn't buy either of the tures i had said. I looked into Toyo's CF1's ? They were about £10 more but reading some reviews on google they all said they wear out quickly.

I'll see how long these last.

yoko tyres are the best mate,no dout
  19. #19
Paul, learn how to drive? Why buy decent tyres and go round every bend at 25mph? I had Michelin's on before the T1R's and they lasted 21K with some track usage as well. Says a lot
  20. #20
5k is silly quick though, especially if its just on the road. Mine have done more than that and that includes 2 trackdays and god knows how many 1/4 miles.
There's a difference between driving quick and going too quick.
  21. #21
My biggest problem with tyres is my camber. awsome around track not awsome on your wallet
  22. #22
ive always had toyos on my cars, cant fault them really
