how much better are these than the standard 247's? is it worth buying these or waiting till i've come across/got the money for some gti calipers?

#2i have got 266 + a 23mm master cylinder,
they seem to work ok -
#3Its a good upgrade for the price
I got calipers for £30 disc & pads for £100 (new) an a mc for £10... -
#4266mm with average discs and pads vs 247 with good discs and pads ?
seems to be the feel more than stopping ability people complain about.thats probably cause they have worn out discs or pads or both.23mm master cylinder helps loads with the feel.
but then again do you really need big brakes with a car weighing 850ish kgs ?
also 266 are heavier than 247 rotational mass and all that.
id like to know the difference stopping power wise as the feel feels fine to me. -
#5266 i get better pedal feel and more initial bite.
i had standard 247 vts brakes, pads and discs (new) but fade and bite was poor when abused.
i use 266 on my track vts with omp pads and black diamond discs. no reason to change as i give them hell. they take it all with no fade. mostly the pad that controls heat management though. -
#6whats the best pads and brakes to use with the 266mm set up
-
#9266s are brilliant for road use and adequate for track use.
over a certain level you will start frying discs on a regular basis and need to go bigger, but that's with extremely hard use and a well tuned car. -
#10266 it is then, thanks guys

#11i have bosh calipers and do some trackdays any surgestions on pads and disks?
-
#12well not standard for track. i got a lot of smoke from both front pads every time i brake hard lol. soon binned those!
