Fuel surge

   I'm having some issues with my 2001 VTR, under half a tank of fuel it starts to get a fuel surge when cornering then under a quater of a tank I get fuel surge under acceleration. Once filled back up it's fine.
   
   is this a common problem? is there a fix for it?

   basically, the fuel pump is picking up no fuel from the tank, so the engine tries to stall.

   had that today thought i was going to break down had quarter tank

   shouldn't really be happening at those fuel levels. If it was a race car I'd personally fit a fuel swirl pot
