rite then im thinking bout starting a turbo project ive got a spare vtr engine with 40,000 miles on it got it 4 20 quid how involved is the process i dont wanna make massive power jus enuf to make an impression, can you customise the standard manifold to take a turbo i was thinkin of using a t2? as i dont want massive power the compression should be ok shudnt it? if not could it be done by using two headgaskets to lower it? + what else will i need i can weld fairly gud so can probly do a bit of fabricating.

    cheers guys

Think you'll need more than £420 mate.

DIY stylee... Hmm expensive way in the long run me thinks, as things will need doing all the time to keep it running well, the cheaper option for the long run would be carry on saving! then take the car & engine to a specialist & say here it is theres most of the money you can have all this lovly crisp cash once youve sorted it!

no reason why not to DIY, DIY can be jsut as good if not better.

Can you weld or get welding done cheap? Though i would advise making a better manifold as the standard one on vtr is pony.

Also fueling, cant just slap a turbo on and forget fueling.

I would lower compression better safe than melted pistons

Also look at brakes and intercooler.

yeah i can weld but my m8s brother in law is a welder/fabricator so i can get stuff dun top notch, i got the engine cheap cuz my mate bort a rolled vtr 2 break of sum1 he new and i helped him strip it the engine never sold on ebay so i sed 20 quid an he agreed

as said its the things you dont think of that costs the most, fueling stuff ie signcon mf2 is the best part of £600 notes, then you need to get the turbo, make up all the oil and water lines, samco pipes, intercooler, jubilee clips, 2bar map sensor, tpiece for fuel, injectors, better clutch, better brakes, exhaust downpipe etc etc can be done alot cheaper.

hmmmm perhaps i mite just flog it then and just make it look better, or maybe just do it slowwwly, im still thinkin bout gettin a r5 gt turb tho but the sax is a god
