    1stly,
sometimes at low revs a get a slight rattling from the front of the car,
couple of things I think it could be really,

    cats fu**ed?
    manifold heat shield?

Im gonna take the heat shield off today and give it a try anyways.

    Secondly,
    my engine bay is disgusting,
    rocker cover is totally rusty,
gonna wire brush it, zinc primer it, and spray it.
    black saxo vtr

what colour should I spray it?
    don't have a theme atm... thinking red/orange/white

Firstly just pop the bonnet and rev the engine a bit with the throttle cable, if its anything just loose under the bonnet you will probs be able to identify it there and then. If its not a loose heat shield or anything you can see it might be the tappets need re-setting or the clutch thrust bearing or noisy injectors or maby something in the gearbox, these are all very common probs with saxos.
As for the engine bay just cover up the ecu, fuse box's and altinator spray it totally with a de-greaser leave for 10 mins and blast off with a pressure washer. imo a nicely done red rocker cover looks good with a black sax.

I had that same problem when changing gear at high revs there was a rattle that turned out to be a shot cat (not literally, that would sound horrible!). So got rid of the cat and stainless steel pipe right through, prob solved!
