Important! : near side rear parking brake is recording no effort

    hi all my near side rear parking brake is recording no effort at all on my MOT which y it is failling is there any ideas wot it could be. just had it tightend when i replaced my rear axle for its MOT but still recording no effort what can i do next?

    Make sure when the handbrake is pulled on the arm on the caliper moves.
    If it doesnt it could be down to a few things
    worn or seizd cable
    seizd acctutor on the caliper.
    Disconnect the cable and c if you can work it free

    it turns out that i need a new calliper (my arse) fkin MOT staitoin doesnt av a clue

    To be fair if the caliper has seized then it will cost the same for labour to strip clean and rebuild it, include a seals kit, than it will to just replace the caliper and beel that corner.

    If you doubt them just ask them to demonstrate it on their braking machine. you can see the dials go up when the brakes are used. If the side they say doesnt move the dial theyre correct.

    I always request to be present at MOTs as per the VOSA guidelines.

    the arm on the calliper does move so wot could it be now? mot centre is saying i need a new calliper is that right?

    as said above, ask them to show you at the garage.
    put it on the rollers and askto see the computer screen when the brakes are applied...

    its simple to understand, it pretty much say yes they work, or no they dont.
