#2From £200 you can get your ECU remapped. around 15% power increase and insurance companies will never find out because its software. It not that cheap but it does affect your insurance like other mods will
-
#3exhaust, strip the car out? vpower

what engine you got that will help.
a vts likes breathing mod's etc etc -
#4ive got the 1.4i westcoast so has anyone got any ideas???? cheers for the info so far
-
#5Yeah it's called strippage

Get rid of crap you don't need/want such as: Spare wheel and cage and tool kit, sound deadning, rear seats and belts, subs/amps/neons etc etc. Improves the car in every way possible (apart from perhaps road noise and practicality lol)
And it's free! -
#6Strip the car.
Port and polish the Throttle Body
Port match
*Last 2 arnt that easy though* -
#10you didnt buy a chip off ebay did you??
tut
tut
tit -
#11Yeah sure they can ruin engine long term
-
#12all they do is make your ecu think there is more air going into it so the car burns more fuel so it actualy makes performance worse
-
#13i wont be getting one of them then
-
#14as these guys have said the best way to improve performance is to put your car on a diet!! every 10kg you lose is like adding 1BHP so say you manage to shave 50kg you get 5BHP more plus better stopping distances and handling and even fuel consumption!!
-
#15But obviously loose the practicality side of things, no seats, any of you guys with no spare tyre been caught without on when needed? lol
-
#16yes but over striping my make the handling bad?
light rear end -
#17i took my one out and never had a problem. i put this stuff called slime in my wheels though so i can always get home.
-
#18Whats that like seals a puncture for short amount of time?
-
#19yes on a 1.1 is light at the front so it evens out but insome cases ie vtr vts with the big engine its makes it oversteer. what ever you loose from the rear you should take from the front. 50/50

#20Call me an idiot, but i reckon one of the cheapest and best performance oriented mods is a quick shift link.
http://www.griffiths-engineering.co.uk/
They are £20, easy to fit, undetectable as a mod (within reason) and actually work. Sure it won't give you more power, but it'll help you get your gears in quicker which kinda improves 'performance'... if you see what I mean
-
#21Good call mate, good mod, and may be investing in one very soon lolQuote:Call me an idiot, but i reckon one of the cheapest and best performance oriented mods is a quick shift link.

#22I got one a while back and I'm pleased with it.
It'll shorten the throw, but will make shifting more difficult if there is a lot of play/wear on the arm between the stick and the rest of the linkage.
Buy from GE direct, they sent mine really quick. Cost £25 delivered, took about 20 mins to fit. -
#23The fact of saying stripping = more bhp is gay

Look at it as better power to weight ratio.
Best bet is to strip... but not half hearted... -
#26drop a vts in it . iv put 1 in myne and ill never go back .and if u do dont stip it .myns stiped and is fxxkin gud fun but oversteers were ever it can
-
#27and forgot to say i compleated my conversion for less than £450
-
#29cheers for all the input
-
#30how much would a quick shift ink cost to install? generally
-
#32how hard?
-
#33vts it .
