Idle control valve ?

  1. #1
when i first start the car from cold and drive off if i put my foot on the clutch the revs take ages to drop and sometimes get stuck at say 2k for a bit then drop down.

When the car is at normal temperature it is ok. However if i rev it in neutral the same thing happens the revs take ages to drop down, but dont get stuck anywhere.

Im guessing its the idle control valve but im not sure. Ive cleaned it and its made no difference. Also when the car idles when hot the revs kinda fluctuate slighty. Normally going up to 1k then down again over and over.

What could be causing this ?

    cheers in advance

stepper and check your battery terminals etc, also check for air leaks in you inlet manifold check pipes and listen for any blowing etc

theres a guide in the FAQ section

Its normal mate dont worry about it when you start it extra fuel is been injected to aid with cold starting thats why it changes when the engine is hot due to the right amount of fuel being added.
