Tinting

  1. #1
I was thinking of tinting my back 3 windows a dark smoke to go with a bit of a black and red theme. I been told this will cost a fortune to get done professionally so would it be worth me having a go at it myself (or getting my boyfriend to do it lol) or is it just gonna be a complete pain in the arse that I wished I'd never bothered doing lol?
    Thanks

You can buy Pre cut tinting film. Does the job but i cant see it being easy.

Tbh ive always thought that tints are quite a Big thing. Might aswel pay a bit mroe for a good quality tint that will last. rather than risk it peeling off etc.

Ask about. Theres a lad i know that does all three back windows for the price of whatever the film costs.

Where abouts though? I'm all the way in Portsmouth and there doesn't seem to be anyone round here to help me lol
Worst comes to worst tho I prob will just end up peeling it all off and getting pissed off and having to pay someone else, the tints not that expensive though is it so I'm not sure I'd be too bothered in that case. Hmm I dunno, I'm new to all this lol

its not that dear ......... well £100 to £150 or more depending where you stay, and its worth having it done imo

best way imo to get tints done, is to have then graded, fronts are illeagal to have done so a waste of time, could lead to afine and having them removed, so our car has no tints on the front. light smoked on the rear quarter and the rear widow darker again

    hope this helps

yeah around the 100 quid mark is about right i think. depends how brave you are though, have a go for 15 quid a roll if its crap its only 15 quid. if you follow the instructions and use lots and lots of soapy water you may do a good job . youtube has some good videos on it . may help .

Thanks, I'll risk being a tight arse and put some pics up if it goes well, if not I'll pretend I never mentioned it and just have to wait till pay day lol

I got quoted £90 for all 3 back windows, good price imo considering a roll of tint is what £15 each, then all the hassle of fitting them.I'd rather pay the £90

Anyone know of a good place near me to do it? Or would it be worth googling and asking around?
  11. #11
The company that quoted me that was a local windscreen company so try somebody like that.

    Ok thanks
  13. #13
Yeah, I'd say don't risk doing it yourself tbh...

Well I tried and failed, wish I listened was a complete pain in the arse lol.
Least I only wasted a few quid, will be getting a professional to do it for me very soon.
And next time I ask for advise from here I might listen lol
  15. #15
ahh well , dont matter , the idea was you only waste a few quid .

i did my rear quater windows they came out fine, just need alot of patience been on for months and not peeled and still look good, got 5 metres if not more for a whole 5 quid.

Its all a learning curve for me cos I'm new to all this
I'm not one for patience, neithers my boyfriend, it was really pissing him off trying to get all the bubbles out and in the end we gave up lol

it took me maybe an hour a piece maybe more to get all bubbles out. i used window cleaner spray that drys up as i was recommended this by a window tinter as soap n water isn;t that god so he told me. but mine came out fine and all for less than a fiver, altho i wouldn;t even try rear window

Lol, i was wondering what way to go about doing it, but looks a bit silly if you've got all back 3 limo black right?
  20. #20
Probably safer for me to just get someone else to do it tbh, I'd probably end up getting annoyed and leaving it done craply again if I tried again lol

I was gonna go dark smoke for the back 3 and a lighter one for the front two, how dark are you allowed to go on your front ones does anyone know? I know it's a certain percent or something but how much?
I'm sure if I get a professional to do it they will be able to tell me anyway lol
