itll be that your pads and discs need replacing
  3. #3
How much brake pad have you got left?
  4. #4
how much would it cost to replace them

for bog standard brakes and pads your looking 50 quid on parts before fitting.

    but its easy to do

Take the wheels off and have a look at your pads. It is likely they need replacing but a visual check on the 'meat' left on them will do. If they're down to the metal backing plate you'll want new ones ASAP.

However, if they look okay then it can be normal to have some brake noise (you hear it all the time on the road) as the components obviously vibrate during use. To limit it you could remove the pads and use a bit of copper grease inside the caliper where the pads makes contact and on the backs of the pads themselves, this should stop (or at least reduce) any noise.

Be careful though and don't use too much. The clue is in the title - copper grease on your brake discs or the friction side of your pads is a BAD BAD IDEA.
