cars pissing steering fluid

  1. #1
    got to work fine

left work and steering was heavy, noticed a puddle of fluid , filled up and got home and it was pretty much empty again

    lowered 40mm

is it the high preassure pipe?
  2. #2
sounds like it, why don't you fill it up again, and put something under the car so you can see directly where the leak is coming from, might be a fucked pump too.. if it was a pump it would be leaking mostly after the engine had been running, if it was a split it would leak all the time so just do it both ways

pumps fine its coming from where the pipe leaves the engine bay

it's all good mate, i'm too poor to afford a mk2 lol
can cause serious fuck ups if you dont!

    whats this lol ?

baisically it shows where the leak on the pipe is and how to sort it.
in short if you lower your mk2 you run the risk of rubbing the power steering pipe through off the steering rod causing a hole and losing your fluid which can in turn ruin your PAS pump

jack the front end up and have a look, whack some more pas fluid in and run the car to check the pipe is rubbing through and it is actually that, you will see where it is quite easily because if it is rubbing you will see the pipe fouling on the steering rod. make sure you keep it topped up, dont want to run the pump dry or else you can prepare yourself for a hefty bill.

how long has it been doing it for?

just started about an hour ago lol

^^pay membership and its worth it in the long run. not only will members be more willing to help but thrers discount with a few traders and the option to look in the sale/wanted sections.

Had this problem when i lowered my vts 40mm mate.

Went to citroen for the hose, cost around £70 iirc.

When refitting the hose it is possible to route the pipe different so that the pipe no longer rubs. If you look at the pipe, there are 3 or 4 sections to it, citroen list the single sections, but will only sell the full thing due to the type of connections holding each part together (they are crimped together using a machine).

Hope this helps you a bit mate!

I had this problem a few weeks ago... when i looked it was pissing out of the fitting directly ontop of the power steering pipe... it had just come loose!... couldnt believe it... i think the bolts on my car were tightened by a small school girl....

i've had a look now and i think it might just be leaking from the joint so gonna tighten up , refill and give it a test

Pipe on mk2s rub on standard height, just lowerng it increases the rubbing, badly designed tbh

try getting a mk1 pipe to go on, goes round the steering arm and clears it better

this happened to me on saturday night!
steering went all stiff and wouldnt move.
noticed a leak in the power steering pipe. because the cars lowered so much the steering pipe has been rubbing on the steering rack it has split the pipe.
got a second hand pipe off here for £20 and got it fitted for £30. job done!
