Jack the wheel up where the noise is coming from and see if the wheel wobbles in and out, this would indicate a possible wheel bearing

    hi ppl

i've got the same noise so i checked the wheel and it doesn't wobble, what could this be?

    thanks

    culd be balancing/tracking

does this happen when you deaccelrate?
doesnt it normally make a squeeking noise if the wheel bearings are going?

happened on my last two cars. take the front wheels off and put them back on again making sure the nuts are nice and tight. sounds like a loose wheel if it doesnt happen round corners or accelerating.

taking a spanner to them now will not work as they'll probably feel tight so remove the wheel and replace it again. if this doesnt help check bearings etc.

the comment about tracking can be ignored, try getting up to speed when you can hear the noise. Knock it into neutral,. Now you know wether it's to do with the wheels or the transmission. When worn they don't always "wobble", somtimes you can spin the wheel by hand and hear a rough /clicking noise that gives them away.

Incidentally my wing mirror cover is vibrating in the wind above 50mph and that sounds a bit like a wheel bearing so check for daft stuff like that as well bud.

I had this problem and think its something to do with the intermediate bearing on the drivers side driveshaft, get underneath it and cover it with grease see if that helps

Bingo you are right, Driveshaft intermediate bearing. £23 from citroen. if i had £1 for every time i've said this i would be rich by now.

if i had a pound for everytime i've diagnosed a near fatal loose wheel i'd be a wealthy man too haha. people tend to ignore the advice though as it sounds so daft! symptoms are identical to the intermediate bearing.

Had this on mine, Had both front wheel bearings done, sorted it for a while, then it started again, Had both driveshafts done. sorted! Driveshafts looking at £100 a pair brand new, wheel bearings about £20 but a pain to fit so pay a lot for labour

So if this driveshaft intermediate bearing is fucked then you don't need a new driveshaft

Thank fuck I found this out as I was just about to fork s**t loads for a new one

I had this problem, if it's the exact same, it's a part on the driveshaft, but you need a whole new driveshaft
