Timing belt needing replaced

  1. #1
Hey all, my Saxo is sitting at 66'000 and seemingly I found out today the belt needs replaced every 60'000 . I'm slightly worried about that since the garage I got the car from said fudge all about that but anyway. I live in Edinburgh and I have been recommended to go to Peugoet Ecosse in Bo'ness. Sounds pretty good as their website saids alot about them etc but wondering what my other options are as in where I can go. My local doesn't do timing belts. Whats the price I should be paying to get it changed? Any help would be great, cheers

If your getting it changed, get the water pump changed with it as it runs off the timing belt. A good price is around 100-140, i paid 130 and got the water pump changed along with new coolant too, hope that helps. Although you can buy timing belt kits online if you want to supply them yourself to the garage.

Ye I was wondering how much as the garage in Bo'ness said 120 so I suppose thats not too bad really. Seems alot to a student lol.

60-80k is teh time to have it done. So I wouldn't be panicking at 66k. My 1.1 is on 81k and I'm gonna do the belt before I get rid of it.

Ok thanks for that. Rather get it done though as a precaution but my mind is a bit more settled lol cheers

I'd understand being worried if the belt snapping was going to cost a grand or more for an engine replacement, but people struggle to give away VTR engines anymore so I wouldn't be over panicing.

if you change it youself it will cost you buttons. just mark the timing and remember to replace the water pump while your doing it its quite simple.
