Coilovers - Saxo

  1. #1
Fitted the Dimma kit and it's hitting the ground in certin places I go around where I live. It's been lowered 50mm on Eibach shocks and springs all round.
What coilovers are good as I shall be putting a turbo on it next year.
I will also need rear dampers to match.

h&r and gaz are the 2 best companies IMO

    could make your own though

AST stuff is very good. But like Alex said you cant really go wrong with Gaz stuff and even more so the likes of HnR stuff.

If it was me i would probably go for the HnR coilovers.

So I take it that the GMAX and stuff like that are pretty crap in comparrasion.

What are these coilovers like compared to my current setup.

gmax and raceland are all crap, thats why there cheap, stay well clear of these.

AST, h&r and gaz are the ones to go for.

The basic h&r kit is very good and should allow you to get the height your after (as in lift from 50mm fir dailybut for shows you could wind down ect)
mine aren't exactly basic though lol

how much did they cost you?

please people search button. this is almost a daily question.

unless you are using your car for track use or wanting to go very low there is no point in them!

Properly best to just use descent 40mm springs with good dampers

i got them 3rd hand for 675 quid

i dont know the price of a full setup new but one damper insert from h&r (its a revalved bilstein unit) is 480 quid

    so 2 dampers
    2 main 285lb springs
    2 3.5 inch helpers
    2 sets of spring pans
    lower legs
    top seats to suit topmounts

and then they come without hubs and bearings so you need some of them too aswell as topmounts top bearings the seats for the bearings ect

i would hazard a guess at about 1500 quid for them then the bearings and hubs on top of that
so could be looking nearer 1700 all setup on the car

and ive swapped to solid topmounts that cost 100 quid too

coilovers are a premium solution most suited for track cars. If you don't intend to change the setup then a decent regular shock and spring combo would suffice

Taking all this into consideration. I have deceided to get the kit modded slightly for clearance as I am happy with the shocks and springs I have now. Makes sence to do this instead.

    Thnaks for the help guys.
