Important! : Hub Nut

  1. #1
    Hi

Got a bit of a problem. I am currently fitting different springs and dampers to the front. But i have got a hub nut that is holding me up!

I cannot undo the hub nut, even with a huge breaker bar. The nut is passenger side (Which i assumed was reverse thread).

I have come to the end of my tether and really need any tips or advise someone might have!!

    Please help!!

Its a long time since I last did this but I though they were both standard thread? Juts tap out the pinching on the end of the nut and use a big bar. Or preferably a windy gun to make life easy.

Thanks for the reply, what do you mean by 'stationary thread'. What i meant by 'reverse thread' was that the general rule of "left loose and right tight" is reversed. Am i right?

Sorry I ment to say standard i dont think they are reversed. May be wrong as not done one for some years now.

there not reversed, you just got to be a man about it!!

Just confirming that they are normal thread. Lefty loosey and all the rest.

they are normal thread and staked (you should notice its been tapped in onto the driveshaft) so remove the stake or use a air gun

You might also find it useful for someone to be pushing the brake pedal whilst your trying to undo it. Me and my mate did this. He got the ratchet on it and then a big bar for leverage.

Bar over ratchet = big ratchet.

I push the brake pedal + he stands on big ratchet = driveshaft nut undone!!!

    Right........

That explains a lot!! I have been trying for ages, thinking that it would be reverse thread! Doh!

I shall now try again, but using the normal way!

Thanks a lot for the useful answers.

normal thread, big bar, foot on the brake or small rod through the disc and hub to prevent it turning
