-
#6as said or wishbone mounts
lower ball joints or arb mounts?: -
#8do you mean whinning because my car knocks and there a faint whine there just had new gearbox and clutch so shouldnt be these??
-
#9if its knocking i would say bottom ball joints thats what was rong with mine but it would mostly happen when turning wheel or driving on rough ground
-
#10happens mostly on shitty roads, right plan is do both shafts, both drop links and both bottom ball joints hopefully then it should be right... shouldnt cost too much thanks guys

#11just pick new parts from shop, going to fit them all on saturday
n/s complete full arm £40
o/s complete full arm £40
2x anti roll bar link £10 each
o/s track rod end £7.50
n/ track rod end £7.50
all in with vat £132.26
I get good discount as the arms alone retail at £163.53 plus vat each
got a set of drive shafts from mate £50 so after tracking going to be another £200 spent. -
#12deffo sounds like the driveshafts mate, i had the same sounds coming although mine sounded like it came from the dashboard, a groaning.grinding noise. 50 quid for a set is a good price as well, same as what i paid from a scrappy
-
#13you could have had the set of drop links for £10 of ebay... but never mind you had disscount
-
#14i had this to i replaced wishbone and it was gone

#15You have to remember half these suspension/control problems making a similar knocking noise. Iv had someone bring theres car around mine thinking it was the lower arms and it was an £5 exhaust mount. If you dont know what your doing dont go ordering parts you might replace things that are abolutely find and still not solve the problem.
So many people are doing this!!! Common causes of these noises are droplinks, top mounts, lower arms, driveshafts, arb bushing, and lower mounts. But it doesnt mean it is. Jack the car up a check before!
-Worn droplinks will make the steering feel light and may cause wierd steering reponse. These are at the end of the arb and the ball joint break easily but cheap ebay ones will wear quickly especially if your lowered AVOID!. Driveshafts usually knock when your turning due to more pressure on them. Top mounts Just pop the hood and see how the bearing are doing, if you get someone to turn the wheel why you check for play.
-Bushing and mounts I usually stick a tool in and try and create movement if theres no obvious wear, if theres obvious play its probably that causing the noise.
Except for the balljoints and bushing on lower arms I find it quite hard to tell if they are bent/worn without taking them off so usually replacing them will be the last thing i do..
But!!! this has all been covered 100000 times in the stickys read them everyother post is "knocking noise".
