#2depends on what power your going for but really you need a bigger lump
-
#3well i dnt want to much power i jus want it so it gives me a bit of a kick.
-
#4little things matey they wont do alot more depends wat sort off money u wanna spend, induction kits, stainless straight throughs, stuff like that mines 1.1 have a look my insurance to much too get anything bigger
-
#5a 1.1 will be slow. more power go for a vts.
strip the 1.1 out and run vpower, service. -
#6As said, get a bigger lump.
-

Just keep it regulary serviced, maybe a better panel filter, a Port and polished Throttle body, thats all thats worth doing in my opinion mate.
-
#8well i got a k&n airfilter in it now i dnt no wt else to do. and what do you mean by bigger lump :s i dnt understand..
-
#9put a 1.6 16v vts engine in
-
#10bigger lump... a different engine.Quote:well i got a k&n airfilter in it now i dnt no wt else to do. and what do you mean by bigger lump :s i dnt understand..
everyone on here will say, put a VTS lump in it.
im happy with my 1.1...tbh its not down to the car, its down to the drive imo.
get a decent brake set up, decent suspension, decent wheels, tyres... then start to worry about the speed / power.
strip it, makes one hel of a difference, uprated panel filter, could be intersting to stick a 1.0 gear box on it, and maybe a 1.4 head, port and polish it, and the same to the throttle body / inlet. -
#12i hate to say it, but if you want more power buy a vtr or vts.
-
#13Put a donk on it
-
#17nitrous
-
#18I have drove my mates 106 1.1 and there is a big power difference compared to my vtr.Quote:Why not? Seems a natural upgrade to me, I did and although my VTS is a fair bit quicker than my old 1.1, its not what I would call a huge jump
So the difference will be even bigger if he goes straight from a 1.1 to a vts. -
#19but tbh... dont mean to insult you here Mr.Marsh... but "put a donk on it" did make me cringe and instantly think of Jani ftl! "ere bay do a burnout!" and all that jazz...Quote:I know

I'll speak to matey boy again and find out for you sexyboi
and yesh mateee!
im getting bored of this 1.1 powaa now the new girl on the go drives an R!
-
#21neither is the cupra tbh dude... i would love to see you try and boot it around plymouth, with the shitty roads we have!Quote:38bhp?
I agree that he will have double the power he's got now, but its still not going to be an animal. Dont get me wrong I love my VTS to bits, but its not that fast
bye bye splitter
ijoke! im not to keen on them tbh, but yours is just abit lush!
-

iw as going to say, you have an S . . . must bring it out so i can have a looook!
doubt id get insurance on it! got to re-new the 1.1 soon and its stupid, because my trade wont cover me after 6pm. thats no good. -
#24Ok simple advice... Drive your 1.1 till you can get a VTS later in life when its affordable. Simples
-
#25thanks every1 was a great help....
-
#26simple things like weight will make a world of difference, maybe get rid of your spare wheel and keep some holts tyreweld instead?
-
#27Mate strip it out get a induction kit supersprint exhaust upper and lower strut braces and have some fun
-
#28ive got a 1.1i and its slow as fuck.my mates 106 1.1 xr is faster but hes got everything standard and ive got 15s with 195 tyres, upgraded backbox and airfilter.its still slow.will a performance manifild and different gearbox work?
-
#29Not worth the scrilla. Strip it and save money for a new carQuote:ive got a 1.1i and its slow as fuck.my mates 106 1.1 xr is faster but hes got everything standard and ive got 15s with 195 tyres, upgraded backbox and airfilter.its still slow.will a performance manifild and different gearbox work?

#30i would also like to make my 1.1 saxo pull off faster...
i have orderd a full K&N induction kit...
not to fussed about top end, what could i do to help on repsonce times and pull off speeds? -
#31A poorly placed open air filter can decrease performance, Id just bang some nitrous on it
-
#32where would the best place to put the air filter be ?
any oner improvements ? looking at decating it... what would it sound like tho? even with normal back box?
cheers -
#33lose as much weight as you can from it. cheap and easy.
-
#34just dont...
-
#35im a real newbee... so im guess the vibe subs in the back dont help... erm... lol... would like to just make it sound nice... like roooar (induction kit orderd) which exchaust would you recommend on a 1.1? ... and a little more responsive if possible...
-
#36its a 1.1......... induction kit = -1bhp or perhaps + 0.5bhp exhaust +1 bhp maybe -bhp all depends on what one you buy
Vibe subs 15kg+
All you are going to achieve is a slower 1.1
If you really want to make it "faster" do as suggested strip interior, replace spare wheel with space saver or just remove all together
Put a new panel filter on as open induction is retarded due to heat soak, hotter air = less oxygen = less powaaaaa
Exhaust isnt going to do much and theres not many made for 1.1's (well specific for power gains)
But the best thing you could do is stick a vtr or s lump in it but if you look at the costs its better to just hold out and get vtr or s when insurance is cheaper and you can afford it
-
#37ok cheers buddy

i will look into some pannel filters pal
and try and reduce weight -
#38Cheapest option is a VTR engine.
Instant 30BHP for less than £100 -
#39hi there ive just read this thread
yes... i am a newbie
whats the best panel filter out there ?
really good thread btw -
#40Have you tried turning your fog lights on?
-
#42i think hes best of gettin a vtr as vts will be 2 fast i mean hes use to a 1.1 so a vts is a bit of a jump imo lol
-
#44Strap a rocket next to the exhaust
-
#45is this zerog power mod actually real or a scam and does it really work and by how much.
-
#47de-cat helps
-
#49If your just starting out driving i would stick to the 1.1 because if it goes tits up and u crash (which statisticaly most new drivers do) insurance wont pay out cause you wanted power. As people have said weight removal makes a big difference. So if possible you can strip it out.
If your K&N is open cone you are probs loosing power, standard airbox with pannel filter, a good service, straight through exhaust system and ported polished throttle body are best bet on a 1.1. -
#50Pttf waste of time
Your not gonna get noticeable power unless you Turbo/Supercharge or Nitrous
Decat, induction kit, exhaust will give so little difference its a waste of money
Will probably cost you more than the car is worth for the sake of 5bhp!
