faulty Throttle Position Sensor ? engine management light

  1. #1
problem numbers 1 and 2 sorted now lol

number 3, engine management light is on, had it plugged in and its the throttle position sensor, but the car runs fine apart from the stated issues lol and the guy in the garage couldnt diagnose it either, he said the car shouldnt rev normal or run properly if that was shot, ive cleaned the throttle body out, had the sensor off cleaned all that still no joy. doubt it makes a difference but im running a decat but im sure that doesnt bring the EM light on

    any suggestions??

    cheers guys

Not sure on problems No1 or 2, but problem No 3 you say that you have had a diagnostic and come up with a faulty throttle position sensor. It may be that it requires re-setting but even if it is on its way out the ECU lets the vehicle run in 'limp mode' in other words even though the component isn't 100% efficient it will run the vehicle at less than 100% efficiency but probably will have to be seen to very soon.

Number 1: Could be many things, most probally something to do with the driveshafts or wheel bearings could even be brakes? Your best bet is to get it looked at by a mechanic.

number 2: Sounds like the clutch release bearing, is it when the clutch is up? And when you depress it the noise goes? To replace the clutch release bearing your going to have to bite the bullet and replace the whole clutch (like i did).

number 3: If it is the sensor try some 'carb cleaner' if not get another one from someone breaking a working VTS if possible so it will be cheaper!

    Hope this helps

    cheers for the replys guys,

my dad did say the brakes could be at fault,

with the clutch the nosie is when its dipped, disengaging the drive to the feels,

going to go have a clean of the sensor now

No. 1 would be your CV joint's, new drive shafts would sort it out most likely
could also be the brakes as i had the problem on the 306 yesterday but id do the drive shafts first

    No. 2 change the clutch

No. 3 Engine management light? too complex....PRE ECU FTW haha

No. 4 ... there wasnt a number 4 was there?

To the op do your revs take ages to come back down again after revving?

Sorry if I have missed something but a decat will bring on the EML if you are running 2 lambda sensors then the one that would be after the cat should be plugged into the car but sleeved to turn off the light.
