283mm/ 266mm caliper whats the difference?

    hi, got some scrappy calipers & carriers today, how do i know if they are 283mm or 266mm calipers?
    whats the difference between the 2?
    and yes there is no discs to measure and the scrappy dude aint a clue.
    there is some pads but i dont know how to work out the discs size from them.
    they are off a 307 sw btw.

    check the minimum thickness the calipers would allow, or find the part # on the caliper and ring peugeot

    they are shut now.
    is there not a basic visual difference or some piece i can measure??

    search 307 sw front disc size on net.

    iirc, their 266's... sure i saw it somewhere. I'd search for the part number though.

    no real visual difference as if im right its just the carrier that is different

    the 307 sw def came with 266mm and 283mm, the 266mm being rarer, hence i decided to have a punt on some cheap calipers/ carriers.
    i think you could be right about the carrier thing cos on the bay pad sizes appear to be the same for 266 and 283.

    Has anyone got a 283 mm calpiper/ carrier (or 266 mm) and could measure the baack side of it.
    Should be nearly 2cm of difference some where when i compare the measurements to mine?!
