S1 Rallye Inlet & TB on a VTR

  1. #1
Right guys, looking for some hard information on using the 106 S1 Rallye inlet manifold & throttle body on a silvertop VTR.

I'm not after massive performance, i'm simply doing it because I want to do something fancy with the aluminum body of the inlet...yeah yeah I know!

Anyway, I've found a few S1 inlets / TB's for sale fairly cheapish so I just want to straight out the installation first.

    1) Do I need the S1 fuel rail / injectors?
    2) Do I need the S1 ECU or can I make it work with the VTR ECU?

They include the sensors needed to make it run / function but the main thing i'm worried about is the ECU.

    Cheers for any help!

no ecu no fuel rail no injectors, all you need is the inlet mani and tb, with all the sensors intact on tb, you use the map and icv off the vtr, search mate, theres a guide to fitting

be prepared to do some fiddling to get it to run right aswell

Yeah I read that the ICV can be a pain to get working correctly!

I canny find this guide you mentioned, is it just a thread or actually in the premium member guides?

Sweet as, just paid for the unit so I should have it with my by Wednesday/Thursday then I can get to grips stripping it down & painting it!

    paint it? mirror polish it.
  10. #10
Polish it thats what ive done looks grreeat!

Bit of a thread revival but I ended up grinding the pug logo off, shot blasting it and coating it glossy black, looks 100x better now!

I've started pulling the rallye TB apart, was wondering if I'd be able to clean up the housing, paint it etc.

Also, is it really gonna be worth porting / polishing the inner lip when it's only being fitted to to a VTR?
I can't see the gains being worth it?

Lastly, for anyone interested, I've put some dimensions below:

    Standard Mk1 VTR Throttle Inlet
    54mm ID
    60mm OD

    S1 Rallye Throttle Inlet
    60mm ID
    65mm ID

    K&N Apollo CID
    65mm ID
    70mm OD

Get it ported and polished, theres a few people on here that do it. Cant hurt, and its only cheap

I noticed a nice increase in throttle response, and the car picked up more instantly and pulled a little harder.

Any chance of a link to who could do it on here and what sort of tooling are they using?

I'm not paying someone to do with with a grinding attachment on a dremel, I could do that myself!

You cut just clean it up a little yourself, polish it etc

    Cut the spindle
    Knife edge the butterfly
bore the actual TB out my a mm or 2
    smooth any lumps/bumps/ridges out etc
