GTi6 Master Cylinder Gasket

  1. #1
G'day, I'm awaiting delivery of my new GTi6 Master Cylinder to give my brake pedal some much needed "feel"

I'll be purchasing a couple of new brake lines due to the cylinders port connections being on the opposite side from my VTS.

BUT (question aimed at people who have done this mod), do I need a new MC gasket, and if so. where do you get one from ???

Oh.. and I take it these are easy to bleed out the air on??

Appears toi be no aftermarket gasket, you remove the air via bleed npples on calipers, if you don't know this you really shouldn't be meddling with your brakes matey

Of course I understand about bleeding via the callipers!!!
however, due to the physical set-up of the MC being above the ABS unit, I was unsure if the air would get trapped within this device.?

But don't worry, rest assured I will re-bleed the callipers to make sure all air is removed....

Back to my original question!! Would a new dealer supplied MC gasket be required?

I looked at the dealers spare parts list and there appears to be no aftermarket gasket

you can carefully bend the brake lines round to fit on the other site.

Any motor factors will make you up brake lines, you only need about 12" of piping (complete with pre made ends).
    I'd guess a £10 each???

Thanks for the info Bickerton, I'll re-use what comes off my standard saxo item, bleed them up and marvel at my new pedal feel!!

Being a bit ham fisted, not sure I'd manage this!!! Be handy if I could though!!!

lmao worth a go you can normally bend them a few times before snapping.

Should have just got a m/c with the ports on the same side.
What fluid pot you got? I used the standard one on mine, stuggled to find an m/c which had the same spacings and ports on same side.

First bend and that brake line will be kinked!!! mark my words!!!

standard VTS setup at moment, I'll need to see if my new one comes with the GTi6 pot attached???? If not, I'll fit the VTS one to the gti6 MC.... couple of new brake pipes aren't hard to fit.... just a ball ache re-bleeding a full system when I replaced all brake fluid three weeks ago!!!

thats why i asked, as am not sure if the spacings are the same for the pots so you may not be able to.
Mine was off a gti6 (so they said) and that has the ports on the same side
    but mine is 100% a 23mm
