ive got my mot next month and just been doing all the little bits to make sure it goes through and i went out for a drive and started hearing a loud knocking when turning and don't have any idea of what it is could any1 help?

check your driveshaft if its when turning the gaitor may have burst already

yeah its probably your cv joint, the gaitor (rubber cover) may have split and lost the oil, making the clicking/knocking noise

If its the CV joint, you cant get them on their own - you will need the entire driveshaft, but they are not expensive, about £60 or thereabouts. Once the gaiter splits or comes off, the cv joint ingests all grit and crap from off the roads and the bearings get destroyed very quickly - re-greasing them wont help once you can hear the joint knocking on turning.

if its knocking loudly then grease wont solve it if the damage has already been done

if its a knocking it might be your suspensions/ wishbones, if the bushes have worn, as you turn a corner the play in the joints will probs be creating the 'knocking noise' its as the bushes arnt holding the sus' arm strong enough and in effect are rattling around. this is the problem with mine and i plan on doing the work soon. however i though i would check here to see if any one has ever done this job before. if so come across and problems???

i know its a fair simple job but you know. . . .

i had the same prob tho i first changed the driveshafts, which was half the knocking noise, but once i did that i could hear another sound, this happens to be my front sus arms. just got em today, £34 each.
    cheers
