hey all just need some quick answers rely on how to get the filler smooth wiithout lines in it i can get it smooth but it still has the lines in from the spreader thing if people get what i mean lol
how to get filler so smooth???
-
#1
-
#2you have to sand it down a bit after yuve put the filler on
-
#3yh i do that mate but when i put it on it leaves like little lines in it but when i sane it down it dont go rite ill try it again inabit anyway and see if i can get it right
-
#4use a high grit sand paper mate ! and just be patient !
-
#5When you spread the filler on, spread right across what ever you're filling in one go then you wouldn't get lines from the spreader.
-
#6most things need more than on layer of filler. the trick is to get it a thin even coat to start with , this will give you a good basic to getting it smooth.
and like said above use a high grit paper 400 grit for example -
#7yh iv gotta get some wet and dry tomorow i fink that will do it but its like little holes aswell piss me off i cant get it smack on like but ill keep trying
-
#8yh i tryed that and it was perfect but i went over it again and fucked it up lol but ill try it all again tomoz when iv calmed down abit lol but i fink that is the idea to go stright across likeQuote:When you spread the filler on, spread right across what ever you're filling in one go then you wouldn't get lines from the spreader.
cheers lads

#9thats because you will have had filler on the applicator and it sticks to one another destroying the application.Quote:yh i tryed that and it was perfect but i went over it again and fucked it up lol but ill try it all again tomoz when iv calmed down abit lol but i fink that is the idea to go stright across like

like said apply it once scrap it off the applicator, pick more up and repeat. -
#10Add filler then sand, some what near smooth...
Then do the above 3/4 times an it should be smooth an have no lines in... -
#11yh its exactly that mate it pisses me off tbh when you get that one little bit what fucks the lot up but cheers for the advice ill wipe it clean everytime i use it like and hofpefully ill get somewere lolQuote:thats because you will have had filler on the applicator and it sticks to one another destroying the application.

#12get rid of the crappy plastic spreader and use a decent metal one.
-
#13i have done it now woooooooooo, and it is those shitty plastic spreaders i mite invest in a nice shinny new on
but its so easy when you take your times and spread stright across what your doing from one side to the orther and it goes nice and smooth
i love it when i finish something lol im just leaving it now to dry till tomoz and give it a good sandf down tomoz and get some wet and dry on it and then get it ready for painting
cheers for all the advice lads helped alot cheers
-
#14what ever you do, do not wet the wet and dry. use it dry as body filler absorbs water and you will have to let it dry out for a while before primering as when you do it will blister the primer.Quote:i have done it now woooooooooo, and it is those shitty plastic spreaders i mite invest in a nice shinny new on

#15use stopper after the filler, goes on like butter
-
#16wet and dry will take the piss lmao, just get sum p320 discs there the best, will get it smoother then a babys ass and wont take as long
-
#18If you're spray painting it after, you might find little small holes from where the filler didn't quite fill in. If so, get some acrylic gap filler stuff (comes in a tube) and apply over the holes like filler (only need a small amount) and try and spread it as thin as you can then flatten it down with sand paper after it dries.
-
#20this man knows what hes doing, plus 1 for the good advice mate, as said try not to use loads as youl find its harder to sandQuote:If you're spray painting it after, you might find little small holes from where the filler didn't quite fill in.
