do the wishbone bolts have to be specific bolts or will any with the same pitch and length do? the garage used an air ratchet and have threaded and bent the bolts. cheers peeps.

just use a high tensile bolt of the same size, pitch and lenth and itl be fine.

ok mate ill get some on monday. it took about 15 mins to get each one off. they also started to round off a torx bolt on the clutch plate and replaced one with a normal hex bolt. another reason why i dont like garages.

Don't use high tensile bolts for suspension components.

The idea with low tensile bolts is that they bend instead of snapping.

If your hitting something hard enough to snap a 12.9 grade bolt then you have much bigger things to worry about
not sure on price would need to know the sizes to work it out

high tensile is more brittle, you want a soft bolt so it can 'move' and not just snap.
i bet if you put high tensile bolts on you would snap them.

I know of people who've snapped the bottom section off that the bolt goes through, is that enough evidence for you? Bending wishbones?
  22. #22
I foolishly fitted a HT wishbone pinch bolt. It snapped, my strut popped out of the ball joint and made a mess. Not cool.

    Voila, more proof!

Same theyre fucking terrible, happened when I was fixing my mates 306 theyre pathetic.

They aren't too bad, it's just that the torque setting for them is quite low, you need to do them up to the right torque setting and they won't bent or snap.
