Extended steering column?!

  1. #1
    Hi,

Im slowly picking up that the boys on here are the people to ask about all things Saxo so i wonder if you can advise on this one?

I have recently bought a Saxo VTR ready to race in the Stock Hatch Championship. My problem being initially that the race seat and my 6'5 frame are not really making life easy. I have looked into changing the seat but i think the problem could be easily solved if i can bring the steering wheel towards me (in true touring car style) by extending the steering column?! but being a complete novice with this kind of thing im not even sure if this is possible, so im looking for your expertise here really...do you know if its possible and what is required at all?

    Cheers in advance

    well there are 2 options

one is to extend the column
the oter is to buy a dished wheel if the one in there is flat

    the latter is cheaper
extending the column isnt really an easy thing to do tbh
if i had to do it o would probably get an old boss to butcher and just make an extra long boss
but tbh i dunno how well that would go down with the scrutineers

Simple solution maybe.. have looked at deep dish steering wheels?

also shifted thread into a more appropriate section

apologies for posting in the wrong section, still a newbie lol

Thanks for the advice and quick replies. It already has a pretty decent, removable Sparco wheel but its not that dished. The ideal solution would be to extend it like the GT/Tourers have but it sounds like it could be a mission though sadly.

no worries on section as steering isnt in any titles lol

maybe look at a properly dished wheel then

something like a corsica has pretty big dish versions

also you could get a machine shop to knock up a spacer. mine with a snap of boss is pretty close with my new dished wheel its going to be in my chest lol.
