#2white smoke is water, so unless you have left your car standing for a while, or its running slightly rich, is your rad water going down?
-
#3any ideas?

#4ive just told you.
-
#5see post above your last one
-
#6rad- radiator?
running rich?
i think i have the same prob -
#7is it all most certianly that then? and not the head gasket?
-
#8it could be the headgasket, how is the car running?
-
#9i have the same problem but the car seems to run fine, theres more smoke than a usual car and and oil leak so i think my headgasket has gone, anyone know how much this could set me back to repair? and whether its worth leaving or done straight away..
-
#10I had the same problem twice. Had to take the car to service and I dont know the name of small plastic base where the injector fits. Is like a plug. When that device got damaged (it is electronic) you can get tons of white smoke.

#11hmm i hope its not a head gasket as there v. expensive to replace

#14yes you can get gasket sets for cheapish but if you cant fit them yourself then labour adds a lot as its head off
-
#15yup ive been told my head gasket has gone, i can get a gasket for £21 delivered.
i got quoted £400 for the gasket and new cam belt to be replaced!!!!!
any ideas whethers thats OTT or not?
-
#16it sounds one hell of a lot to me if you bought the gasket for 21 quid!
ask one of the more expienced members to talk you though replacing one your self if you got the confidence to give it a go.
iv found that cars aren't really as hard as they first seem and have replaced many parts of my car myself and iv learnt a lot by doing it
but im not to sure how hard it would be to do a head gasket though

#17take your oil cap off check for mayonais underneath it if not start your engine with it off and see how much pressure there is.gas should pumpping out gently. and if thats ok its probly condensation and thats fine
-
#18HG should be around All the parts to replace the hg including new oil, all usual stuff, plugs, etc, and timing belt, antifreeze, head skimmed etc cost less than £150, then its labour to do it so about £250-400 is ok inluding every part
-
#19im getting it done for £250 off my cousins uncle,
hes getting it skimmed and replacing the gasket and he may add a new cam belt too
and yes my head gasket has gone but it hasnt mixed with the water to go mayonaisey yet
