does this seem a bit suspect to you? am i better not to even contemplate one of these and just get a dastek unichip when i have cams etc...?

yeah i looked at that the other day mate, sounds a bit sus' if you ask me. if you pay 400-500 quid for a dastek why can you get this dodgy lookin item for 70 quid? id leave it if i were you.

what sort of hike in insurance would you be looking at if you got a fully remapped dastek chip?

Leave them alone, anything like that on ebay is utter shite and will do bugger all for the car.

Stick to a standard ecu remap or get a dastek.

Benreader- ring your insurance to see what your premium will be with one.

what do dasteks do that these dont.? thins is a general Question as i havn't really looked into the advantages of a dastek ove other chips and stuff

that chip even if it works is mapped to some car that you have no idea about, it could be standard it could be supercharged you have no idea. Either way its mapped to a car that isnt yours it has no idea what mods you have or the charateristics of your engine.

A dastek is mappable to your car each and everytime.

As for 15 bhp from a chip alone i laugh myself sore. Also whats the point in upping the rev limiter when it doesnt make any power up there.

suppose you got a point there but the first bit aint true!

iv enquired about these chips with him and he said that he would need the make and model of my ecu and also the ecu number running along the top of the barcode on your ecu top.

he e-mailed me a table of stats showing the time the injuctors are open for in miliseconds throughout the rev range and where i personally think my car is a little flat, you can see that the fuelling is quite lean.

the first bit is true, its not mapped to your car, its not fitted then actively mapped to your car therefore you wont be getting the proper benefits. It might help in some areas then hinder in others. Theres a reason why a dastek or an ecu remap are expensive.

superchips and bbr's chips are exactly the same and they cost upto £400!

i have played dumb to both superchips and bbr and asked them what is different about the chips to meke the extra bhp and they have all told nearly word for word the same methods and reasons!

why would such well established companies like these be still goin if there chips were shite?

S A L E S ! ! ! in the days before mappable piggy back ecus and remappable standard ecus etc then these were considered a good idea, however now a days since you can get better, and they are still as always a generic chip based on the car they tested they wont and will never be as good as those mentioned before.
