i want to lower

    ive got a mk1 saxo 1.1 but i want to lower it.
    do i just buy lowering springs and change them over or do i have to set it.... change dampers and all that lot.

    im looking to lower it about 40-60mm and get some 16 inch rims on it.

    by the way the car is standard at the moment apart from sound system.

    anyone who knows to a guide will be great help

    springs on the front and re adjust the torsion on the rear,
    no springs needed,
    the most it is reccomended to go on standard dampers is 40, but if you ask around i'm sure you'll get plenty of people saying they have dropped 60 on standard dampers with no problems, they just tend to bottom out easier over dumps meaning that the dampers wear out sooner than they should,
    but it's all down to what you can afford...

    if you take it to a garage make sure they don't use the "clicks" method of lowering.

    oh and if i was you i would stick to 15inch wheels and don't go too wide as you can get them rubbing the arches, ask around and see what others have fitted to lowered flatarch saxos

    nah im gonna do it all myself and i already know how to do the back as i had to higher my mates back on his saxo when i put a sound system in for him.... just the front i need a guide on

    Is lowering classed as a modification which you have to declare to your insurance company. I am thinking about it. But didnt really know costs or anything.

    just a case of taking the struts off, getting yourself a spring compressor to hold the spring compressed while you take the top off the strut and then swap the springs over, simple really
    and less of a pain in the hole than the rear, sure there will be guide knocking about.

    as for insurance..if you plan and sitting your car on the floor then yes i would tell them or if you're driving around with bright yellow shocks and red springs they will be noticeable but if you drop it 40 on standard suspension i wouldn't personally bother,
    though majority of insurers allow you a certain amount before it will affect your policy just give them a call and say you are thinking of doing it and wonder where they stand on the issue.

    go for it mate, if you can manage the rear you'll have no problem at all with the front,
    just don't forget to book it in for tracking after you've done them!

    On a 1.1 flat arched model if your lowering 60mm or even 40mm you will have to cut out some of your arches to get 16s to fit without scrubbing

    what about putting 15 on with it lovered 35 mil

    depending on the wheel that you use (width and ET) you should get away with the 15inch with no problems

    some 15s will still cause small problems on the flat arch model though when having 1 or more passenger, alot can be sorted with a 3/5mm spacer though usually

    so if i lower it 35 mil say and get some rime with et15.
    get a 5 mill spacer aswell and all will be good?

    i ment rims ^^
