Cams/Bodies/ECU's

I'm looking to get my VTR cam'd and bodied and i was just looking for ideas and prices for different set up's. I'm not after it urgently, i need time to save the money haha but it would be nice to know the choices i have and how much roughly it would all cost.

p.s i cant put a vts engine in it, my insurance would be around £200 a month

Cams and bodied vtr insurance would similar if not more insurance ....... get a quote before you go further

Tbh i probably wouldnt declare them, but i'd get a quote before getting the work done.
I'm just after idea's on different set up's and cost atm

Cost, to build new to my spec, circa 8-10k.

Power, circa 200bhp.

From reading your thread it looks like you've done alot more work than i was thinking about doing.
Is all that work essential when you get cams and bodies? I was looking at a newman ph3, and i know you need to modify the injection system and ecu with it, but would i need more work doing also or is the rest just 'optional extras'?

You dont need forged pistons and rods etc...

To run big power there are things you deffo need though these being them.

Spec will allways depend on budget, budget depending on spec.

8v you are really limited unlike 16v.

Decent set of jenveys, ot a cheap set of bike bodies.

Decent standalone ecu + map

i was thinking about bike bodies, i've read a few posts where people have gsxr bodies and you can pick them up cheap enough on ebay

Sort of on this topic, I cant seem to find any companies that will offer off-the-self throttle bodies for the VTR anyone know of any companies, took a look on jenvey and could only see sets for a 16v....

there not fitted yet as im waiting for the predator ecu to be finished off, but hopefully it will be soon

plus your quite local so could always pop round if you want when its all running

Looking good mate. I think your going more hardcore weight loss than me, mines still going to be my daily run about so i'm keepin luxuries like carpet and back seats

And yea, it would be great to see it when it's all done, would be good to compare idea's and such. How much is the cam, bodies and ecu costing you if you dont mind me asking

lol mine is still a daily too haha

erm well it depends what cam you get, i got mine on a group buy so was cheaper
but for the newmans ph3 your looking at 180 plus vat i think it is if i remember right, then you will need a pulley they are 90quid ish, ecu will set you back about 600 if you go for the predator on here, if you go for a diff ecu you will be looking about 900ish depending on where you go for remap as most ecus will set you back between 500 to 600 then add remap. and as for the bodies, it cost me 350 for my bodies as i got them from a mate who had already built them up, but again it depends where you go, the best set up for price i know of atm will be a sandy brown/colin satchell set up which is about 450 i think then you will need to source some gsxr bike bodies, then a longer throttle cable, your looking about 600 to 700 is with that set up, its best one i can think of for 8v
