Do cams make your car cut out sometimes?

   My car cut out a few times yesterday when stopping at a junction and the engine management light came on, after a 5/6 mile journey i got home and the light was off and it was idleing fine when i was parking up.
   
   I text the last owner and he said its something to do with the cams, its nothing to worry about. It could maybe do with an oil change and the air filter cleaning.
   
   Its had a full remap, and cams are newman ph3s set to 110 degress.
   
   Does this sound like nothing to worry about? Its the only time its done it, and it had been jacked up for 3 hours before that. I made another thread about something to do with it being jacked up and someone said there car cut out after been jacked up too

   If it only cut out once I wouldn't think much of it tbh - cams don't make it occasionally cut-out unless timed up 'off'.
   
   I'd just keep an eye on it - maybe could take the throttle body and clean everything up just as a precaution

   Okay cool thanks mate.
   
   The cold air feed for the BMC CDA has a big split in it, its just silver ducting.. could that be a big problem?

   Not really IMO, I'd patch it up of replace the ducting to rule it out. My old Westcoast engine used to cut out the odd time (very rarely - braking heavily for a junction), but suprisingly it only did it whilst I had an aftermarket air filter on there - with the standard airbox on it it was fine

   Okay al patch it up today thanks for the help mate.
   
   I'll post again if its the same today, the previous owner said it did it once in a while but was the fine the next day so hopefully fingers crossed it doesnt do it today when i go out.

   I'm sure it'll be fine - if it does then chances are it'll be a dirty sensor on the inlet side of things.

   thats what was happnin with my old vtr and it turned out to be a dirty loose senser on the gear box mate if thats any help
