Carputer guys or IT guys

hey guys and gals im in the process or sorting out my old laptop to use as a carputer.

right i have a couple of options on how to power.

the plan i had was to hardwire the laptop so that asoon as the ignition was turned and power sent to the unit it would auto turn on.

the problem i have with this is oviously as soon as the power is taken away its gunna auto turn off unless i leave the battery in and set it to shutdown after a min or soo..

whats your guys opinions?

ive also got a tower pc that i can bucter and use with a carputer psu but i aint sure on its power draw....

o and ive got a dc-dc incar laptop charger from maplins which will have the cig end cut off and spliced into the ignitoon live ect..

*A secondary car battery
*A split charging relay
* Battery isolator switch (with removable key) – to act as a valet switch

i wont a second battery mate. the computer i have consumes little to no power mate.

ive been running a 500watt power inverter for the missus for the last few months. and the volt gauge showed no volt power loss and itll be able to handle the wattage of a laptop

ill have a gandors at that site na mate
