airbox.

well the plan is to get myself a green cotton panel filter,
i noticed people mentioning de-restricting the standard airbox when on of these is fitted and using a cold air feed tube,
just wondering what is involved in doing this?
    it's on a 98bhp VTR engine btw.
anybody has any advice, guides or even a picture to show how they have done a similar thing to there i would really appreciate it.
i did a similar thing to a corsa a while back,
removed a sort of reducer inside the airbox allowing more air into the filter (k&N panel filter) then drilled holes into the side of the airbox away from the engine and lead a cold air feed aswell as the standard air feed being left on, just to give an idea of what i'm after doing!

    wrong section...
    apologise.

yeah, its just a small resonator box. Take it off and wallla, you have 2 holes now.

I used the std air intake on the top hole. And got some aliminimum piping to the bottom hole.

The cold intake is tie wrapped onto the lower part of the slam panel, where the original fins in the bumper allow air flow.

also, i wouldnt drill any holes in the air box, there will be plenty of air able to get in now you've removed the resonator box.

nice and easy job then thanks bud, out of interest what's the use of the resonator box??
as i have just seen where a guy has done a similar thing but blocked off the resonator bit,
thanks a lot for the help

its just to restrict airflow, as a economical car will use less fuel, so doesn't need as much air.

Start adding 4-2-1's and de-cats, and generally making the car faster, your gonna need more air, to burn that extra fuel.

got a raceland 4-2-1 to come soon hopefully so will deffo get done,
would reccomend keeping the resonator then or blanking it off?

ohh i see what you've done actually, put a feed straight through without the resonator box to the bottom hole, so to kinda have two feeds going into the airbox??
