   Hey guys!
   
   Well im not in the slightest bit happy!!
   
   Went out to sort my brakes, went to take off the wheel bolts, 2 came off easy, 2 others wer stuck, HARD!
   
   After 5-10mins on one it inally loosens,
   
   The second is the locking nut, first attempt and bang, slips off, locking nut its fooked, the special shape in it has deformed so now it wont fit!!!
   
   Anyone have any ideas??
   
   They are mc-guard locking nuts, and i CAN send off to get a new key, but that means sending money over to Germany and whats to say it wont just do it again
   
   Any other way at all???
   
   Obviously cant get any off the wheels off now, im foaming!!!!

   Mc guard are soft people allways do them up really tight which is when they have problems.
   
   Either smash a socket over it so the socket is wedged on and turn it off that way, (may break the head off if its on to tight) or its big ass drill time.
   
   Just wait and get the new key nut from mcguard, it will be a bit of a mission but alot easyer/cheaper

   will probs give the "smashing a socket on" trick a try tomorow.
   
   If it snaps the heads off it should make it easier to drill though yes??
   
   anyone recomend any TOUGH locking wheel nuts, as these are going to have to go now like!

   I smashed a socket over all 4 of my locking nuts with no problems, took 10mins max.

   Get ones with splines on and the socket will work on mcguard worked with mine mate.

    Just do them up to the correct torque and you wont have problems.

    Usually just use the long/breaker bar and get them so it stops then giv it a nudge...
    
    Im obviously going to have to get some new locking nuts now, but halfords only seem to have McGuard ones.....

    Then dont use a massive breaker bar to over torque them then.
    
    Simple.
    
    They dont need to be so tight they will never come undone without a huge amount of torque

    o its not massive, just a shortish one, thinks its the 2nd biggest halfords do.
    
    I has learnt my lesson, although i never do them REALLY tight, Sigh.
    
    Sure ill get it sorted, but its going to cost me a new set of lockng nuts, although they are not that expensive from the E Of Bay.

    make sure you put some copper grease on the nuts when you replace them and you wont have this prob next time

    also this banging a socket on trick, wonti need 4 sockets then as all four will have to come off....
    
    Or can the bolt then be remove from the socket once off???

    you will be abel to use the same socket providing you have a vice and a hammer and drift to knock the socket off the bolt

    Your saving money smashing the sockets out then drilling as u cud damage the alloys or make things even worse then they already are. I think the socket size is a 17 but i cant remember without trying it on mine now.

    i would also recommend double hex sockets as you get twice as many "teeth" to bite onto the locking wheel nut

    just bang the socket on mate, make sure its well on and secure before you try removing or you may damgae the nut further along with you alloys with a nice slippage

    well the car is going to go into manics on monday as he has the locking nut removel tools etc so going to have a pop at it there, just a right piss on!!

    Had exact same issue with my mcgard lockers. Used ye olde smaller socket on and job was done.

    id say come along tomorrow but the great north runs on and its a pain for me to get any where near work form where i live.

    well Chris at manics has jst messaged saying he has the tool he used to get the last set of buggerd McGuards off so hopefully should be ok

    I had this problem with the standard citroen locking nuts. Managed to get 3 out with a large breaker bar, but the last one was stuck solid. My mate fettled the last one by smacking the key onto the locking nut for about 5 mins, then getting a windy gun on it.
    
    Got some Mcgards now... torque them to 85nm/ 62lbft and never had any problems yet.
