Important! : 266mm brake set up,urgent help!!!!!!

  1. #1
went to fit some 266mm brakes of a 206gti,went to fit them and the discs go on no problems but the caliper carriers aren't long enough to go over the disks they would need about 5mm if not more shaved of them.
after a phone call to gsf they said there where two or three types of calipers fitted to a gti between 99-2001(not includeing gti 180)
they are defently the right disks and they are 266mm by 22mm

not sure if the calipers are even of a gti so basicly need to know what ofther cars i can get the calipers that will definitely fit!!! as i have a track day in two weeks(my current brakes are completly bolloxed) and im away mon-friday so very little time to get sorted
    cheers for any help!!!

306 gti do use 283mm disks, but can be made to fit easily. Some other 406's iirc also use 283mm disks, but don't fit.

Try Berlingo vans for 266mm disks and callipers.

i have a 266mm setup using lucas calipers came from a 406 estate...calipers needed grinding to fit to the strut but tht was all that was needed! to me it sounds like your discs are too big in diameter not in width take caliper/carrier to local motor factors and see if the have a disc that fits

I was lead to believe that there are differing offsets on discs for use with the Bosch calipers, I found that some 266 setups (mine included) need the lesser offset brake discs??

The guy above is the only person so far on the money.

1999-2001 GTis use 20.5mm thick discs with small offset. 2002-2008 use 22mm thick discs with 12mm offset.
