how to start a vtr engine on the floor

    got vtr engine in back yard wanna test it befor fitting anyone know how to start in when its not in the car

    not a good idea at all man lol

    get either a 22 or 24 mm socket ( cant remember ) and a bar , put it on the bottom pulley and turn it over by hand make sure its not siezed for a start

    if you try to start it on the floor it'll throw it's self around like a monkey being raped, not a pretty sight.

    and if you going to turn it over by hand, take the spark plugs out first

    But yeah as said take out the sparkies and turn her over by hand.

    screw what these guys have said, get it set up on an engine stand, then just plug it in as you would in the car!

    then put the spark plugs back in and try it again and test for compression

    Its probably easier to put in the car and wire up to test before you get it fully plumbed in. Its the fuel pump that's difficult to wire up whilst its all out of the car.
