Important! : How do you tell if a saxo is a single plug or 3 plug ECU

  1. #1
Ok guys I have a V reg mk2 1999 saxo vtr, now I need to know what plug ECU is it, and single plug or 3 plug ECU. As i'm doing a VTS conversion very soon.

Also can someone please tell me what year and model cars are a single plug ECU and what year and model cars are a 3 plug ECU. As i cant find a thread that actually states this.

easiest way is to lift the bonnet and look at the ECU.

If it has 1 plug going into it its a single plug

If it has 3 plugs going into it, its a 3 plug

    Simples.

But i can tell you now it will be a single plug.

all models before 2000 (W) are single plugs and all models after are 3 plugs.

As the change over was 2000. I own a 2000 VTR and its a single plug, but some 2000 model saxo's are 3 plugs

the 2000 plate is good in theory, but there were crossover cars.. and cars that were late getting registered etc. Only real way (and by far the easiest!) is to look at the ecu.

yes, i guess that is very true.

Was just going by rule of thumb.

But as said, just check the ECU and you will easily see

well the engine i sourced is from a 1999 mk1 vts, he thinks its a Y Reg, he's not sure as he brought it as is. and the owner swears it 3 plug ECU. Is this possible or you think it's gotta be a sibngle plug ECU

mines a mark two v reg 2000 and is single plug, you need to look at both engines and look at the ecu as above, it cant be a mark 1 1999 and be a y reg that dont add up

if its Y reg its 3 plug, if its 1999 its a single plug. theres more to it if you want a plug and play because theres different sized multiplugs at the other end of the loom
