i was thinking about putting a vtr bottom end on my furio?

will this have much effect and is it hard to do?

thanks any advice would be useful

might aswell swap the whole engine for the effort
  3. #3
Rob just stick a whole engine in! i want to do it too
  4. #4
dosent that mean fucking around with the ECU and all that sorta crap?
  5. #5
    I dunno haha!

I would think if you got a VTR ECU (witht the same amount of plugs as ur current ECU) then it shud just be plug and play no??
  6. #6
    well you'd think that.....

but i'd rather mess with mechanics than electrics!
  7. #7
If you get complete engine with correct loom and ecu it will just bolt up and plug in
  8. #8
    haha!

supose id rather go for the full hit coz i think the 1.4 engines have smaller valves than the VTRs but im not too sure and im not sure the headbolts are in the same place....... i dunno im sure someone will enliten you with exact answers later on!

Headbolts ect will be same place
but for the effort of stripping both lumps it's not worth it if you can just put the vtr in

true true so it'll just connect up to the too plugs in the engine bay? and i wont have to change the ignition barrel or anything?
  11. #11
If the ecu is unlocked then no ignition barrel changes ect are needed
if you buy a locked ecu it's about 50 quid to unlock normally but to unlock before removal is free lol

otherwise it's just the main p
multiplug the power and earths to connect and the charcoal canister

i dunno why you'd want to do this i just dont get it lol wat gains would u get?? either way it wont b as much as fitting a vtr engine then agen you'll get alot more by fitting a 16v engine, the only time id mess around with my engine was if i was to fit a 16v engine if your going to the trouble to take an engine out why not fit the best you can? i was gonna fit a rallye head and inlet but along with everything i needed to fit it it was cheaper to just fit a new engine and get alot more power but up to u not trying to put you off or anything

    haha okay no worries!

im just wondering really fishing for ideas

would it be any harder to put a vts in than a vtr then?

i dont think so at the end of the day u are fitting ab ebgine from a completelt different car so i thought it wud b the same to fit either my mate fitted his vts engine in to his old 106 xsi over night and he sed he cud do mine in a day if i wanted now hes already done it once lol
