is this an mot failure??

  1. #1
the front cross member is slighty bent from rolling into a high curb, dodgy handbrake..went through its last MOT on a provisional. will i have to get it sorted for its next MOT?

Could really do with some guidance im a total novice to everything.

handbrake test is done on rollers and it has to register that it locks the wheels. if not youl need a new one.

    not to expensive like
  3. #3
so will the front cross member be a problem this time round?
  4. #4
it will just be advised, aslong as its secure it cant fail.
The hand brake doesnt have to lock the rear wheels at all, the minimum pass efficiency is 16% for a pass, it just has to hold the vehicle weight at standstill

thats good news then. thanks guys.

provided front crossmember is sound it shouldn't fail, if it was split or rusty then it can fail
  7. #7
Cross member can be more bent then gok wan as long as it's not rotten
  8. #8
what u mean by cross member??? slam panel?
  9. #9
lower front crossmember under radiator i think he means

Surely he means across the top off the raidiator. IMO it will pass aslong as the blokes not a wanker it's up to him (mot man) to state it's roadworthy so he decides

it'd have to be a high kerb to damage the slam panel and a miracle if it didn't damage the bonnet, front lower crossmember is standard kerb damage
