Hey guys trying to split the gearbox from a TU9M engine thats in the boot of one of my cars! Trying to work out which bloody bolts to remove and i can't work it out!

Anyone got a picture with arrows to the bolts? Thanks.

normally the torx bits, big ole torx bits inal.

So they are like big torx screws going from the bell housing into the block? I removed all of the 13mm bolts from the gearbox to bell housing and that didn't work.

Any idea of how many there are? Anyone got a pic?

its only about 3 or 4 i think.

the only 13mm ones to take out are on the starter motor

the 13mm bolts hold the 2 gearbox casings together

Don't remove these - hopefully you haven't broken the seal as could leak gearbox fluid, which might mean it needs resealing.

They are x4 big allen bolts - 2 ontop of the gearbox, one under the starter motor, and one under the CPS.

Ok so i should put all of those 13mm headed bolts backin. It hasn't moved at all so fingers crossed i'll be ok.

So it's 2 Allen headbolts on the top. 1 under the starter and one underneath the gearbox? Then i should be able to pull the gearbox out?

Thanks for all your help. I got this engine practice on before I rebuild my S16 engine. It's never going to be used.

Yes, put those 13mm's back in !!

Yes, just 4 allen bolts to remove the gearbox itself.

Prior to this you need to remove the starter motor, linkages, driveshafts, upper gearbox mount, wiring/sensors and it's off. From reading above though you just have an engine connected to the gearbox in the boot, so not much of the previous applies really.

    No Luck

Put 8mm allen in and all it did was keep rounding only got one bolt out

GOing to try a big torx bit and hammer it in 2moro.

Buy some Irwin bolt extractors - one of the best tools I've bought. I rounded one gearbox bolt, one of these got it off straight away
