Important! : Engine tapping - Please help

    Hey,

    My VTS was tapping so after some work i've replaced two hydrolic lifters that looked dead! changed the cambellt and done an oil and filter change, but it's still tapping!! What else could be wrong??
    Please help me!!

    the guy thats doing the work said that maybe the cams need replacing? they look burnt apparently?
    are they expensive?
    duno whether its worth keeping it or selling it!!!!

    is the guy trustworthy ? there's alot a ppl out there that'll tell u alot a rubbish to get ur money , if a where u a would have another garage look at ur car

    was it not burnt valves ?

    colchester, its my boyfriends mate who does alot of work for my boyfriend and his mates, really trustworthy
    No nothing to do with the valves by the looks of things but he was on about just getting a new head?
    it hasn't lost any power and nothing is wrong with the car when i drive it? dont get it!!!

    think the headgaskets prob on the wrong way causing oil starvation to the head , that makes the hydrolic tappets noisy

    its easy done , seen it done loads of times cause it can be a bit confusing

    was it tapping before the work was carried out ?

    yeah thats why his had me car? it just started tapping so he had a look at it, changed two if the lifters that were worn and now it hasnt made no difference? he said the cams are burnt but not sure whether thats the issue?

    he may have changed the wrong lifters plus cam could be worn.
