Right can someone with parts disc psa wise get the pics of the engine mount up as I need to see how it is bolted together. I know there is 2 13mm nuts but the one bolt holding the round thing to the actually alloy mount for the engine need to see that one as I think the guy has bolted it up wrong possibly

#2just doing it now for you

#3

That okay?
I can zoom out if you want - or if you want part numbers ? -
#4thats fine dude just a quick question tho you know the alloy mount sits in the cradle then the bits with the 2 rubber bits sit on top of that and then the orange thing sits on top that the bolt that holds it all together from the bottom the bolt is fed from the bottom of the alloy mount ain't it to the top and via the chassis is it?
-
#5On standard mount the boom from the block bolts to the hydraulic mount with one bolt upwards from underneath and then two bolts hold it to the chassis mate
-
#6Doing this from memory without looking - the picture actually makes it very unclear with the large mount (orange) being upside down in the picture.Quote:thats fine dude just a quick question tho you know the alloy mount sits in the cradle then the bits with the 2 rubber bits sit on top of that and then the orange thing sits on top that the bolt that holds it all together from the bottom the bolt is fed from the bottom of the alloy mount ain't it to the top and via the chassis is it?
I think it goes, metal part with the 2 rubber bits on it, then the main metal mount that goes to the engine, then the large mount (orange top) goes on the top. A bolt runs from under the metal (2 rubber parts) through the main mount and screws into the bottom of the orange rubber mount? Sound right? -
#7ie the way its put together in the diagram above is upside down
-
#8now that bolt from underneath yeah on the gti ive just got the guy has bolt it so i goesQuote:Doing this from memory without looking - the picture actually makes it very unclear with the large mount (orange) being upside down in the picture.

under the chassis cradle up (so there is like a gap/void) then it goes metal bit with rubbers, main mount from engine then orange thing. So it is like bolted solidly to the chassis. From what I understand from what you have just said the bolt should go directly under the metal bit with rubbers, main mount and then orange bit -
#9It doesn't go through the chassis.
The head of the bolt sits inbetween the chassis and the metal part with the two rubber buffers - going up through everything into the rubber/hydraulic main mount -
#10hahaha jesus christ I got a solid ecu mount for free then!
-
#12no dude the person who had car before instead of putting that bolt through the metal bit with rubbers, mount from engine and then orange thing. He went through the chassis, metal bit with rubbers, mount from engine and then orange thing so its solid bolted to the chassis
-
#13Thats mad! If the rest of the mounts are standard I'd look to sort it out so that they were all working properly (not mounted solid) so the engine isn't trying to twist etc. when accelerating!Quote:no dude the person who had car before instead of putting that bolt through the metal bit with rubbers, mount from engine and then orange thing. Good to hear you fixed it though/got to the bottom of the problem with it ! -
#14lower and box mount are new so may get it motd and taxed and once done I will drive to mates garage and get him to sort it
