    To de-badge the proper way

You will need to remove the badges

Weld the holes up then grind smooth then apply bodyfiller till smooth...
  10. #10
dnt just filler the badges they need to be welded from behind 1st then sanded n filled ect or the filler will come out agian!
  11. #11
ah damn i think ill give it to a body shop to do it, easier

Probably best thing to do, we have had cars come into work where people have just slapped some filler over the holes and 2 weeks down the line there back again wondering what went wrong.
  13. #13
loool how much it normally cost to get done?
  14. #14
Looking between £60 - £120, ive seen places charge totaly differant amounts. ring around and get a quote, tell them your make of car, colour code or name, condition of the boot and how soon you want it done. if you lived closer to cumbria id do it for you, but milton keynes is a bit of a treck haha
  15. #15
lol damn wasnt expecting it to be that much!
  16. #16
envolves; taking the boot of ( in most cases ) removing badges, sanding round the area so bare metal is exposed, cuting small pices of plate to put on the inside of the boot, welding them on, grinding the welds away, skiming with fiberglass, sand off, skim with filler, sand off, prime, flat primer off then paint... it doesnt really take too long but once it all adds up they dont make much profit :L follow those instructions and you can do it yourself
  17. #17
leave the badges on but just paint them i hate debadging
  18. #18
debadge mate if u like it hair dryer em pull the badges off they filler sand primer n just get the colour match from halfrods n mask it off that would look ok
  19. #19
ill give it a go soon mate (Y)
  20. #20
if your gonna de-badge get a smooth boot .....its an idea
  21. #21
does take the piss they dont have holes on the 106's
  22. #22
they leave tiny holes aswell so its a pain to got to all the effort just for them.
  23. #23
just get some t-cut on them and run black ones. looks cooler than stock and saves the hassle of filling holes.
  24. #24
only problem with welding is that the holes are to small so it will warp the boot and you will spend alot of time using body filler to get this right. what you could use is fiber glass compound as it is made for bridging holes and wont crack or fall out. as this is the way i am doing mine because i done the same thing for my door locks.
  25. #25
stick pennies to back of the poot where holes are, fill the holes in with filler sand till smooth, prime, paint, laquer.
  26. #26
they have small holes mate.. try t-cut ing them instead.. makes them look sexy
  27. #27
Think it cost me around £100 for a decent body shop to do the work, I only got it done as they where repairing a dent on the boot so thought I might as well de badge, have to say im happy with the results.

After reading the whole of this it looks to me it a harder job that what some people think to De-Badge, no disrespect to the people who have got De-Badged cars but in my opinion i think they should be left, they look a stack better .

all depends on the colour of the really some colours can pull it off and some cant. ano it sounds daft but thats just what i think.
  30. #30
just leave the badges on i rekon. Bit of t-cut and turn them black they look cooler and no nasty holes.
  31. #31
I'm not sure if someone has mentioned this but, instead of de-badging, de-badging it but have it printed/painted on in black Citréon & Saxo
  32. #32
bad idea, doesnt sound best of ideas.

i like the sound of that be sumthing a bit different i have a debadged boot and smoothed/debagde bonnet 2 the boot needs to be welded up and then filled otherwise the filler will crack and fall out eventually
  34. #34
You can do it without welding, try scotching the rear of the holes and fiberglassing, let it go off and harden then filler>sand>prime>spray>laquer.

If you prep it up to painting it would be pretty cheap to touch up from a body shop, thats what I did with my whole car lol.

Bodywork is piss, painting is difficult :/
  35. #35
leave the badges on but just paint them black
  36. #36
Got a new car, they have already been painted white haha, i cant be botehred with all the hassle

haha this post was not needed!
  38. #38
haha i know, can you tell i was bored?
  39. #39
weld the holes up is always the best option imo then there is no chance of it cracking.
