SAXO VTS Brakes

   Hi Guys,
   
   I'm new to here, so hey!
   
   Just bought a saxo and theres a couple of braking problems. Firstly it's veering to the left under moderate to hard braking (back end is coming out to the right). Going to bleed the back left brake soon as think this is to blame.
   
   However, the ABS is not functioning, nor is there an ABS warning light showing on the dashboard. It's a Y reg 2001 which I thought had ABS as standard.
   
   Any ideas what might be going on here?

   only VTS models have abs
   
   bleeding brakes
   
   checking pads and discs would be your 1st places to check

   thanks, I have checked brakes - all ok. Going to bleed tonight/tomorrow. It is a VTS so I reckon it should def have ABS.

   Check the sensors are attached to the hubs.
   Most common fault on the VTS is the abs braking lol

   also have a look at the bias valve on axle

   Cheers guys.... I've now bled the whole system, all calipers and pistons are sliding freely, new pads were fitted not long ago, but the cars still got a severe braking imbalance!
   
   As I said the ABS isnt working, and the back two wheels are locking (back right more so), front two not locking - causing car to veer to left and back end come out to right under medium braking.
   
   I read about the compensator valve - could this be causing the problem? Is that the same as the bias valve?
   
   It's also been lowered at some point - I don't suppose this could be adding to it at all?
   
   Any further ideas?
   
   The cars dangerous at the moment - so I've had to take it off the road so its quite frustrating!

   abs is prob down a sensor or 2, check the bulb is still in the dash.
   the abs light should light up and then go out if all is ok in abs world.

   Ok thanks everyone. The severe braking imbalance is now fixed - the compensator/bias valve and spring were completely seized up but I gave it a good wiggle and squirt of WD40 and its amazing the difference!
   
   Does anyone know how to go about testing the ABS sensors? odemeter?
   
   Also, another bloody light has came on - Airbag one. Does anyone know how I can get it off? or why it might be on?

   is your airbag light flashing? if so have a fiddle with the connections under the drivers seat, this is quite a common thing after moving the seat backwards or forwards.

    it came on a couple days ago for no apparent reason

    check under both seats that the pretensioner wires are connected ok to remove airbag light.
    
    check the bias valve on the rear beam, when a car is lowered in can cause the rears to lock up and causing braking issues
