dont know if n e 1 can help but im getting my engine rebuild out of my race car (vtr).as there are no chassis plates and the engine could have come out of n e vtr.i was wondering how to identify what block i have(ie are there any numbers on the block that would tell me wat year it is) cheers madmatt

#2does it have rollers under the cam this would mean its a mk2. and what colour of rocker cover does it have silver= mk2 black = mk1

#3its got a mk 1 head and mk2 (98 bhp pistons).but no idea on block

#5Mk1 head is non roller rocker. Pop the cam cover off. Its pretty quick to do and will tell you everything you need to know

#6the engine is already in bits...its a race engine that has been built from all different saxo vtr's
i know its a mk1 head
and that it has 98 bhp pistons
but how can i identify the block
isnt there 3 types
mk1 90bhp
mk2 90bhp
mk2 98bhp -
#7wheres your dip stick mate, right hand side more than likey 90bhp, more in the middle 98bhp, also the 98bhp have a 3 plug ecu iirc
