vtr bottom end to vts cylinder head conversion

    awrite troops. im thinking of converting my vtr block to a vts by swapping cylinder head. i already no that i have to move cam belt tensioner and change crank pulley. but i was wondering which cylinder head to use ive got the silver top mk2 engine does this mean i have to use mk2 vts block due to extra sensors on the mk2 vtr block. also do i have to replace the crank sensor for the vts one. cheers

    wont work mate

    well it will, but you will end up with bent valves iirc

    vts uses slightly pocketed pistons std, where as vtr pistons are flat, or some are very slightly dished but still not enough clearence for the valves

    the head will bolt on etc but wont run

    and tbh the amount of work in changing things on the block you seriously may aswell just by a vts lump

    no point in converting the vtr block

    save yourself the time and money and just buy a complete 16v

    for the sake of machining pistons etc... you might aswell just buy a J4 bottom end.

    forgot 2 say about the pistons i no i need pocketed ones.its getting wossner high comp pistons rods. and it will run. and no im not just going to go and buy a vts block. i want to do it this way plus it isnt that hard to swap this over the cam belt tensioner already has a tapped out hole in vtr block. all yee of no faith

    nah its just pointless

    and why are you buying high comp internals?

    are you running high specced cams i.e 734's or a set of ph4 cams? and bodies?

    if not there is no point in spending 500upwards for those pistons if your not running lairy cams

    wossner pistons and rods
    every bolt in the block arp's
    lightened and balanced crank
    ported polished head
    throttle boddies
    omex ecu
    the list goes on and ive not even started the gearbox. if you want to see how serious i am about this take a look at my profile and look at what im doin with th brand new saxo shell i bought. so stick that in your blunt n smoke it. Ken

    well you never said that in the first place

    most other people would have just said exactly the same thing, cause you never said fuckall on you plans, just about which head to go for, maybe expand a bit more on what your doing and you may get better answers numb nuts

    if thats what your doing then fair enough and plans sound good, but as far as i was aware and others maybe too, you could have been just trying to do the usual and be one of those to try and put 16v head on 8v block

    oh whoz a clever spastic well i did ask a question and the answer you gave me had (mind the french) fuckall to do with it. and i shouldnt need to do a big list of what im doing to get an answer. anyhw were getting off topic ( knob cheese) any1 know the answer or do i need to tell u more what im doin like what magic tree i have or what my fondest memory of a saxo is.

    If your planning on having a spec as described, why exactly are you trying to skimp on converting a vtr bottom end to suit the vts head.

    You can pick up a j4 bottom these days for as little as £20.

    i gave you an answer most others would either way and even if you did say what you was doing etc people would have still said just buy a complete 16v, as it would have just been common sense tbh

    oh for fuck sake you not got the message yet. piss off out of MY THREAD. get your own if you want 2 be wee dick but then again nobody likes smart arses. im converting this cause i live on an island and vts blocks dont exactly pop up out the fukin ground. and postage is expensive. oh i like the black ice magic tree by the way. and ill always remember the time i had crumpets and jam and watched th sun set.

    what is the need for the abuse to him. you didnt explain what was happening so you got the vaild response. if things are hard to come by how are you going to manage to get all the other bits? why not just get a bottom end sent over aswell.
