Important! : Wobbly Gear Stick

  1. #1
There are essentially 2 causes of this problem

    A: Roll pin
    B: Shaft Socket

I had the roll pin replaced which solved the problem for a while then it back back.

So after many wiggles of the gear stick found out it was the rubber bush on the gear stick that meets the selector rod underneath the car.

ive got this problem but its not the roll pin or shaft sockets anyone got any ideas ?
  10. #10
yeah i have this problem 2 i will give it a go, if not i will look into the roll pin,

and does anyone know if a quick shift cure's this?

    as stated above
  11. #11
GE quickshift wont, but when i get these bush things fitted if there is still play ill be getting a proper quickshift
  12. #12
Mines got a little wobble. Will look into this.

The nut that feeds through the parts you mentioned, sometimes it works loose, so retightening it may help.
  13. #13
mine is shocking loads of movement in all gears etc? havent properly investigated but all linkages appear to be ok
  14. #14
    Success

Replaced the shaft bush's and WaW

Also the clunkiness between gears was caused by the GE quick-shift. As it slipped down.

Citroen never cease to amaze me at how the littlest things make the biggest difference

is it possible to replace the bush in the 1st ball joint by the engine mount? Its a huge ball with liek a nylon bush inside but mines worn and seems to be wobbling from there...

    very helpful though

    +1!!

Very easy, just jack up the front of the car and locate the gear stick that connects to the selector on the gearbox then undo the bolt get a stanly and pry the plastic things off, pop the new ones on can reconnect, which can be a bit tricky but work the effort.

only other thing could be is the roll pin on the gear box,

You can only really tell if they have play is by going underneath the car and giving the gear stick a wobble, if you don't have any then there would me monumental movement in the rear stick.
